Project-Based Learning

Project Based Learning is a type of hands-on experience where students can learn by doing the experiments and assignments themselves, instead of the teacher instructing them exactly what to do or having the teacher do all the experiments by themselves. It teaches students how to do certain things, not just why and what to do certain things. It gives the students opportunity to learn from themselves and their own experiences instead of someone else’s. Some educators believe that students learn more efficiently when they learn this way, other believe that they learn a little bit more enthusiastically, but people all over the country use it. Like here at The Dayton Regional STEM School (DRSS).

Paragraph two: Here at DRSS, we use project based learning all the time in all our classes. Sometimes, we even have a project that stretches between two class periods. We use it for everything, from experiments in Science to coding websites in Digital Explorations, from Document-Based Questions (DBQ) in World History to making and publishing a children’s book in Language arts and Wellness and Fitness. We have had countless projects to learn from, and that’s why I think I’m a better learner because of it. I learn from my many mistakes, and apply that new knowledge to other projects, getting better and batter along the way. PBL has helped me learn tremendously over the years here at DRSS.

Thank you very much for reading my lengthy and boring paragraphs on PBL. :)
